Youth Council Mission Statement

The NAACP Saginaw Branch strongly supports the national premise that future leaders must be developed today, and such development is ongoing process facilitated through the Youth & College Division of the organization. There are more than 25,000 young people representing 550 Junior Youth Councils, Youth Councils, High School Chapters and College Chapters actively involved in the fight for civil rights.

MISSION

Our mission for the NAACP Saginaw Branch Youth Council is to inform young people about the problems and issues affecting African Americans and other minorities; to advance the education, economic, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities and their harmonious cooperation with other peoples; to stimulate an appreciation people of color’s contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, effective youth leadership.

VISION STATEMENT

The vision for the NAACP Youth Council is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race by developing a New Generation of Civil Rights and Community Leaders.

For more than 25 years, the NAACP Saginaw Branch has built a strong history of developing youth leadership and community service through the efforts of the local youth council.
